My first DW post.

I've (supposedly) imported all my LJ entries and the comments are queued for import. I just moved everything over on private for now. Eventually, assuming I determine I am in this for the long haul, I'll organize the imported posts to the correct filters and make them appropriately readable.

So, if at the time of this posting, you can see any of my other posts, that would be bad.

ETA: Interesting - I posted this via the POST link at the top of the page. When I got down to "Show this entry to:" My default "Just Me (Private)" was selected, but all other choices were grayed out, and I could ONLY post it privately.

I then selected to edit the post. At that point all of the options were available, and that is how I am posting this entry to Everyone (Public).

EATA: Ah, that is actually an LJ behavior I never noticed because I use a client to post to LJ.

Sounds like you have "private" set as your default entry security here. Which makes sense since you said you were importing your entries as private.

This means though that any new entries you post will only be private as well. You can always edit entries to be any security level though.

If you want to be able to post new entries as public, you can change the setting back to "public" once your import is finished.

Interesting. I need to look at my defaults. I think I am NOT posting privately!

You know what I like about this? It says "subscribe, grant access, reading list" but not "friends" which I appreciate. I always hated "unfriending" someone with that kindergarden feeling of "I'm not your friend" and all the rejection that it could bring. It's less potentially hurtful/insulting to stop "reading" someone than "unfriend" them.

I am interested to see how you feel about the import process.

I have run across the issues you are describing on LJ on my rare public posts. I always web post though - I have never used a client.

It does look eerily familiar here, but I agree with the above comments that the lack of 'friend' identifier is a big plus.
